An Automatic Pallet System uses robotic equipment for handling loads; types and operation of Stacker cranes vary according to the unit load to be handled. This pallet racking system is high density , given the reduction of working aisles and the maximization of footprint and height; quick, as it reduces response times and improves productivity by using automatic stacker cranes; and reliable, as it allows for a daily inventory of stored products and minimizes errors when handling unit loads.

The AS/RS system for pallet handling can be as follows:
- Single or double deep
- Shuttle car: the shuttle car can go into the rack up to 10 meters deep, both to the left and to the right hand of the stacker crane main aisle. The shuttle car stores the pallet at the end of the channel and it returns back to the stacker crane main aisle. It executes the opposite operation when picking up the pallet. When high troughput is required, several shuttle cars can be arranged to guarantee a high product rotation and continue optimizing the storage space.
